Step 1: Confirm your Enrollment

Confirm your enrollment. Confirming your enrollment is the next step in becoming a UMD Bulldog. After you pay the non-refundable confirmation fee, you can select your Orientation date.

At Orientation, you will meet with an advisor to determine which courses to take your first term, register for courses, receive your UCard (official university ID), and connect with fellow incoming students.

Make sure you have the following items at hand to confirm your intent to enroll:

  • Student ID Number: this is found in your admission letter from UMD.
  • Credit Card: using a credit card is the easiest way to pay the non-refundable confirmation fee.
  • Summer Schedule: it’s best to know your family’s availability before selecting a session.

Step 2: Financial Aid

Complete your FAFSA and have the information sent to UMD (Federal School Code: 002388). Starting in February, the Office of Financial Aid will begin mailing estimated award notifications to admitted students.

We understand that incoming students and their families will have questions regarding their financial aid. A helpful resource page is available to assist you. If you can't find what you're looking for there, our staff at One Stop Student Services would be delighted to assist you. Email us at [email protected] or call 218-726-8000.

Step 3: Housing

Check out our Housing & Residence Life Office page for more information about on-campus housing, or click here for off-campus housing listings.

Apply for housing online or contact the Housing & Residence Life Office for more information about living on-campus.

Step 4: College Transcripts

Submit all final official college transcripts to UMD. Be sure to send us your final transcript from your current institution once final grades have been posted. Transcripts can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to:

Step 5: Transfer Prep Meeting (optional)

Schedule a 30-minute meeting (phone or in-person) with our Transfer Service Coordinator to review your transfer record before registration. You'll discuss:

  • Academic progress report
  • Transcripts on file with UMD
  • Courses that are transferable to UMD
  • Introduction to the MyU portal

Sign up for your Transfer Prep appointment before your Orientation date.
