Transfer Requirements
Transfer applicants to the University of Minnesota Duluth are considered for admittance based upon a variety of factors. Students who have previously graduated from high school and have enrolled at another college or university are considered transfer applicants.
Transfer Admission Factors
All transfer applicants must meet or exceed the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.0 (Some majors have higher requirements)
- Successful completion of at least 75% of all attempted college coursework
Transfer applicants who have completed fewer than 26 college credits will have the following factors considered for admittance:
- College academic performance (based upon college transcript(s))
- High school academic performance (based upon high school transcript)
Transfer applicants who have completed more than 26 college credits will have the following factors considered for admittance:
- College academic performance (based upon college transcript(s))
- High school transcript is still required for application consideration, unless the applicant has previously completed a bachelors-level degree
Specific Program Admission Factors
Some undergraduate programs at UMD consider additional factors when reviewing applicants for admittance:
- Applicants to the Online Psychology (Bachelor of Applied Science) major can review program admissions requirements here.
- Applicants seeking to take upper-level coursework within the Social Work (Bachelor of Social Work) major must seek formal admittance directly to the BSW program after acceptance to UMD.
Applicants to any of the Bachelor of Fine Arts programs within the College of Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences will complete additional application steps after acceptance to UMD.
Test Scores
UMD utilizes a test-optional undergraduate admission policy. Transfer applicants are not required to provide standardized test scores for admittance; however, you will have the option to provide test scores prior to registration to assist with establishing your math placement.
