Our unique location and connected campus facilitate natural interactions, while our mid-size research-focused university provides a balance of opportunities and individual attention. Here you'll find over 260 student organizations and 2 NCAA Division I and 14 Division II athletics teams.

Ordering Your Transcripts

Once you've graduated from high school and/or completed all of your transfer college courses, request that your school(s) send us a Final and Official copy of your transcripts. These must be received by August 1 (Fall starts) or January 4 (Spring starts). Many schools will use Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse. You may contact your school and ask for a copy to be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to UMD Admissions Processing, 184 Darland Admin Bldg., 1049 University Drive, Duluth, MN 55812

Paying for College

A college degree is a great investment, and there are many resources to help put your education within reach. A great way to start is by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our Financial Aid Educator is ready to guide you and your family through the best financial path.

Orientation, Advisement & Registration

Orientation, Advisement & Registration (OAR) is required for all incoming students. OAR connects you with campus resources, helps you register for classes, and introduces you to the UMD community—setting you up for success.

Fall OAR: Sessions are held in June, July, and August. Confirmed students will receive an email invitation to register starting in mid-March.
Spring OAR: This experience is held online only in December and January. Confirmed students will receive an email invitation to register starting in mid-November.
