Proof of English Proficiency
When applying to the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), with the exceptions noted below, all international applicants must provide documentation of their proficiency in English. We will accept results from the following testing services (with passing thresholds) to document that ability:
- TOEFL: iBT score of 71 or higher, UMD school code = 6873
- IELTS: Academic Test score of 6.0 or higher
- Duolingo: English Proficiency score of 105 or higher
- Cambridge: (CEFR) 175 or higher
- Pearson: (PTE Academic) score of 54 or higher
- ACT: English & Reading subscore of 21+ (UMD school code = 2157)
- SAT: Reading & Writing score of 540+ (UMD school code = 6873)
