Transfer Checklist
Requirements
To be considered a transfer student, an applicant must have graduated from high school and then enrolled at another post-secondary institution.
Application
Apply to UMD. Students who apply by the priority deadline will be eligible for transfer scholarship consideration.
Transcripts
Submit your official high school or ged transcript as well as transcripts from each college where you have enrolled. Transcripts need to be mailed or emailed directly from the schools to UMD. Ordering official transcripts is quick and easy using Parchment.com or the NSC.org.
Students who have coursework through University of Minnesota campuses do not need to order transcripts.
Students transferring from Minnesota State institutions must request those transcripts. UMD does not have access to Minnesota State transcripts.
Students who have completed a Bachelors do not need to include their High School transcript.

Confirm your enrollment to UMD by signing up for Orientation. Students cannot register for courses until Orientation.

Transfer Credit
Course Equivalencies
Students can use Transferology to determine course equivalencies to UMD. Courses listed as "Maybes" can be submitted to the Office of Admissions for review by clicking the "Request Information" button. Additional information regarding transfer credit can be found on our One Stop website. UMD requires at minimum a letter grade of "D" or higher for a course to transfer to UMD. However, some majors require a letter grade of "C-" or higher for prerequisite/major-related courses.
Liberal Education Requirements
Students who have completed the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC), an associate of arts, or a bachelor of arts are exempt from UMD's Liberal Education Requirements.

Award Criteria
Students must have an application for admission submitted by October 15 and a completed application file by December 15 for the spring semester or an application submitted by June 15 and a completed application file by August 15 for the fall semester. Students must have at minimum 15 or more completed transfer credits to be eligible. The RaiseMe Scholarship also requires 15 or more completed transfer credits.
Scholarships are only valid for the term they are awarded. Students who hold a Bachelor's degree are not eligible for admission scholarships. For a list of scholarships across campus, visit the One Stop Scholarships page.
RaiseMe Scholarship
RaiseMe is a micro-scholarship platform that rewards transfer students for their achievements. UMD assigns a micro-scholarship for every achievement based on the factors and habits we know will make students more successful. For example, when a student earns an A in a 100-level course, they'll earn $10; if they take a full course load (12 credits) in a semester, they'll earn $50; and if they visit campus, they'll earn $100.
To be eligible, students must have a 3.3 transfer GPA, apply for admission, and have a complete RaiseMe profile (by October 15 for the spring semester or June 15 for the fall semester). Eligibility is contingent on a student's acceptance and enrollment to UMD.
Renewal Criteria
Renewal of admissions merit scholarships is contingent upon maintenance of a 3.0 University of Minnesota cumulative GPA and maintenance of full-time undergraduate status.
Renewal of admissions alumni scholarships is contingent upon maintenance of full-time undergraduate status and satisfactory academic progress.
