Next Steps

Step 1: Accept your offer of admission and pay the confirmation fee

Accepting your offer of admission and paying your confirmation fee is the next step in becoming a UMD Bulldog. To take this next step, log into the Application Portal and complete the decision reply form to initiate your confirmation process.

Make sure you have your credit card on hand in order to pay the non-refundable $100 confirmation fee.

Step 2: Sign up for Orientation, Advisement and Registration (OAR) & Complete your Checklist

Orientation, Advisement, and Registration (OAR) is a multifaceted experience that takes place prior to starting at UMD. Students will be invited via their UMD email address to sign up for an Orientation Date. Please log into the Application Portal as your home base for OAR and all of your next steps.

Orientation Date Selection will become available for Fall term in March and Spring term in November

For questions about OAR please contact 218-726-6393 or [email protected]

Step 3: Financial Aid

Complete your FAFSA and have the information sent to UMD (Federal School Code: 002388). We understand that incoming students and their families will have questions regarding their financial aid. A helpful resource page is available to assist you. If you can't find what you're looking for there, our staff at One Stop Student Services would be delighted to assist you. Email us at [email protected] or call 218-726-8000.

Step 4: Housing

Check out our Housing & Residence Life Office page for more information about on-campus housing, or here for off-campus housing listings.

Apply for housing online or contact [email protected] or 218-726-8178 for additional information.

Step 5: High School & College Transcripts

Submit all final official high school and college transcripts to UMD. Be sure to send us your final transcript from your current institution once final grades have been posted. Transcripts can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to:

UMD Admissions Processing
184 Darland Admin Bldg.
1049 University Drive
Duluth, MN 55812

Applicants who were homeschooled while in high school are required to provide UMD with an official transcript. The home school administrator (often a parent/legal guardian) is responsible for keeping accurate records. Official transcripts are those received by UMD from the home school administrator. Homeschooled applicants must have been registered with their school district.

Please note, once your official college transcripts are received, it will take 1-2 weeks for us to update your transfer credits in our system. As a result, please ensure that we have received all official transcripts at least 2 weeks prior to your OAR.

Step 6: Parking at UMD

Are you interested in bringing a car to campus? UMD Transportation & Parking offers a variety of parking options for students. You may find permit option details here. Parking permits for the upcoming academic year will became available for purchase starting August 1.

Students who enroll in Spring term will see purchasing options available online within approximately 48 hours after course registration.
