Step 1: Accept your offer of admission and pay the confirmation fee
Accepting your offer of admission and paying your confirmation fee is the next step in becoming a UMD Bulldog. To take this next step, log into the Application Portal and complete the decision reply form to initiate your confirmation process.
Make sure you have your credit card on hand in order to pay the non-refundable $150 confirmation fee.

Step 2: Sign up for Orientation, Advisement and Registration (OAR)
Orientation, Advisement, and Registration (OAR) is a multifaceted experience that takes place prior to starting at UMD. Students will be invited via their UMD email address to sign up for an Orientation Date.
Visit the Confirm website to initiate your UMD email account and sign up for OAR.
For questions about OAR, you can reach out to the Bulldog Resource Center at 218-726-6393 or [email protected].

Step 3: Financial Aid
Complete your FAFSA and have the information sent to UMD (Federal School Code: 002388). Starting in February, the Office of Financial Aid will begin mailing estimated award notifications to admitted students.
We understand that incoming students and their families will have questions regarding their financial aid. A helpful resource page is available to assist you. If you can't find what you're looking for there, our staff at One Stop Student Services would be delighted to assist you. Email us at [email protected] or call 218-726-8000.

Step 4: Housing
You can apply for housing beginning February 1. Make sure you complete your housing application by May 1. We can't guarantee space after this date.
View our housing options
Head over to our Housing & Residence Life site to explore the different housing options available to you as a student at UMD. The first dropdown on the top of the site will take you to our housing options. You can also take a brief video tour (YouTube) of our housing facilities with a student tour guide.

Step 5: Attend an Admitted Student Day
Gain an in-depth look at campus, connect with faculty and students within your academic department, and learn your next steps for success. To attend, register via your student portal using your email address and password.
+
Step 6: Join the Official Class of 2027 Facebook Group
When you join the Official Class of 2027 Facebook Group, you will be able to connect with incoming students and get assistance from student leaders on campus. Only students who've been admitted to UMD for Fall 2023 will be accepted to the class of 2027 page. (If your Facebook name does not match the name on your application, you will not be eligible to enter.)
+
Step 7: Official Transcripts
Send your final high school transcript, with the date of graduation to the Office of Admissions by July 1st.
Submit official transcripts for any college courses and/or AP/IB examinations you've taken. This way we can give you credit for work you've done through PSEO, CIS, AP, or IB.

Step 8: Education Modules
To help new freshmen get ready for their first semester in Duluth, UMD requires the completion of three online educational modules. The modules cover a number of important topics, and they help UMD meet a Minnesota state law for incoming college students. Be sure to watch for an email with instructions in late July!

Step 9: Parking at UMD
Are you interested in bringing a car to campus? UMD Transportation & Parking offers a variety of parking options for students. You may find permit option details here. Parking permits for the 2023-2024 academic year will become available for purchase starting August 1, 2023.
Important considerations: Students who have enrolled in fall 2023 courses will see the purchasing options online within approximately 48 hours after course registration. Permits do sell out each year. We strongly encourage students to sign up as soon as possible once they become available August 1.

Step 10: Bulldog Welcome Week
This is your week to explore, discover, and get connected the week before classes begin. Bulldog Welcome Week is required for all new students and is filled with many first-year traditions.
